Hint at a little vintage or mid-century vibe and I'm there! Spoonflower's "Lilla Rogers Vintage Canned Goods" design challenge in January 2022 was the perfect opportunity to try my hand at drawing canned goods and play with the vintage theme.

I have four kitties so going with a cat food theme was a great fit. After a few initial sketches, I drew and hand lettered the motifs in Procreate using pencil and gouache brushes then moved them to Photoshop for arranging. I knew I wanted a checkered or plaid background that had a vintage tablecloth feel and to use a balance of desaturated colors with pops of brighter yellow and blue.
