There's something about the intricacy of a William Morris design that commands your attention. When it came time to create a piece for Make It In Design's 2022 Winter School Trend Brief "Crafted Heritage" I knew I wanted to aim for something in the Arts and Crafts style.

Sitting down to sketch, I started to look at images of Sweet William flowers for inspiration and noticed a related link for the Prairie Smoke Flower. There was no going back. I had to draw this wispy mid-Western flower! The set includes a half drop hero print with a full plant offset by stripes of flower buds on vines, a coordinating stripe print and a delicate flower vine print to round out the trio. These designs were created start to finish in Illustrator.
